My New Purse

Can you tell I have been hit by the crafting itch.  It seems everywhere I go I am thinking "what can I do with this?"  While at my Dollar Store this week I found some really fun stuff.  A round blue bag/purse that was pretty blah but I really liked the blue color.  A long shower scrub you use in the shower and and hair tie.

Totally random things some might think.  But look at what I did with them!

It is my new little purse/handbag.  I really like how it turned out and it was supper easy to make.  I just sewed the shower scrubber to the front and trimmed off the access.  The silhouette was attached to the hair tie and I cut it off and hot glued a pin to the back and then pinned it on.  So easy and I really loved how it turned out!  What do you think?

My Dinner Menu

So for awhile I have been brainstorming a write and wipe menu board for my kitchen.  Since I will be working more evenings DH will be doing a lot more of the cooking.  So I wanted a way to remind me of what to prepare and a way to remind him what to cook.  This is what I cam up with.

I just used a cheap frame from Hobby Lobby  that I painted and stressed, and some scrapbook paper.  I love the look and it is totally functional.  Plus if I put it on my stove there is no way either one of us will miss it.

Apothecary Jar

So I am sure that you have seen apothecary jars everywhere in decorating. They really are beautiful, but lets face it I am cheap. I have a hard time paying upwards of $20 for a glass jar that just sits there, pretty or not. So through my blog stalking I have found the coolest way to make your own apothecary jars and they are really cheap and supper cute. Plus they will be one of a kind! I went to DI and bought a simple glass jar for $.50 and pretty glass candle holder for $1.00 and glued them together using E6000 glue (my new favorite). Easy Cheesey! I really wish I would have taken a picture before I glued them together but I really like how it looks. I threw in some spare ribbon and Walaah a new pretty thing in my house to look at for $1.50!!!!

Scrapbook Expo

The Scrapbook Expo is held twice a year at the South Towne Center and my sisters and I always get tiogether for the fun event.  We moved to Utah 8 years ago and with 2 a year I have only missed one Expo.  I always have a ton of fun and enjoy spending the time with my family.  This year it was my sisters Tracy, Carla and my Mom.

My Mom brought her knitting. While she does enjoy scrapbooking she is not as much of a diehard as the rest of us and she wanted to stay busy.  Here she is making me a hat.  (See mom, I called it on my blog so it has to be mine!)

We had a lot of fun!  Only 6 more months till the next one!

The Skate Park

My 9 year old son's new obsession is the skate park.  Every night he asks multiple times if we will take him.  It is a good thing he has a nice Dad otherwise he would never get to go.  One night last week when I wasn't working I joined them.  I actually had a good time watching the kids play and also enjoyed watching the older kids/boys do tricks.

The girl's have a lot of fun too

There is one part of the skate park that just looks like an empty swimming pool.  Now I am a big wuss and this "hole" completely terrified me and made me realize just how old I am.  I was scared that if I fell in I would just have to stay there because there is no possible way I could get out.

But Cam loved it and he really did pretty good for really having no clue what he is doing.

So the skate park really isn't so bad and it is something that all the kids can do.  So it looks like I am going to be drug there a lot in the future.

Campin'

Over Labor Day Weekend I finally got to go camping with my family.  I was so excited to go.  They had been able to go a couple times already but I always had to work.  We went with some friends in our ward, the Grants and the Brewers.  We had so much fun!!

The kids loved to play in the resivour.

We played lots and lots of games

While the kids played in the dirt and got really dirty

This is my sweet hubby to a T.  We are all chilly and huddled around the fire and he is eating a popcycle

Just being silly

We came to bed one night after some adult time at the fire and saw this cute scene.

All weekend long the kids took turns pushing Eva around in the baby stroller.  It was too funny.  Eva didn't seem to mind cause she just hung out waiting for the next kid to give her a ride.

Hot Chcolate Anyone?

I love pickle jars lately.  They just have so many uses!  This is my latest transformation with a pickle jar.  It is very simple but now I can leave my Hot chocolate on my counter and not feel bad about it cuz it is so pretty!

MMMMMMM Salsa!

So my sister Tracy has the most amazing salsa recipe so a couple years ago I stole it and I try to make at least a bath every year.  Well last year I never got around to it so I was pretty anxious to make some this year.

You start out with tomatoes (of course)
You boil the tomatoes so you can easily peel them, this part takes the longest if you ask me.
Then you put them in a HUGE pot
Then you all the other veggies (peppers, onions, and spices).  I forgot to take pictures of preparing this step OOPS!
Then it cooks for a really LONG time at least an hour at a simmer/boil and it is starting to look like salsa.  By this point my kitchen is smelling so good and I start looking for the tortilla chips.
Then you pour all the yummy salsa into jars and water bath them so they will seal.
Then Walaaa  you have salsa.  Although I honestly don't know why we bother to can it because even though the batch made about 13 jars it will all be gone in a couple weeks.

Liza's First Day of Kindergarten

I can't believe I am 2 weeks behind.  I need to get my bum in gear!

Liza's first day of Kindergarten way August 26.  Since she has full day she gets to walk to school with the big kids. I think she was just as excited to walk to school as she was to go to school.

Of course I had to take pictures all over again.  Although I don't think the other kids minding for a few more pictures.

I just love this picture.  There goes all my big kids.  What happened to my babies??
