The New Me!

So for the last several months I have been playing with the idea to cut my hair.  It has been a real struggle for me because I really do love my long hair and it has taken me FOREVER to grow it long, but at the same time it was really long I didn't know what to do with it.  So was always either in a pony tail or just dangling lifeless on my shoulders.

So this is right before I left.  (Of course I had to have a pouty face to make the new doo look even more exciting!)

So after about 2 1/2 hours in the chair this is how I emerged!!

I really do like it.  I was very nervous when the lady who did my hair suggested we go darker in color.  I have never gone darker, I had always gone lighter!  But she must be a professional because I really like how it turned out.

A Little Girl Becomes a Lady

So we have a rule in our home that you have to be 8 yrs old to get your ears pierced.  I continually remind my children how well they have it because I had to wait till I was 12 but they just roll their cute little eyes at me and ask if they can get them pierced anyways.  Well, my sweet little Morgan is turning 8 on March 28 and the next couple weeks are going to be kind of busy so we gave in and got her ears pierced 2 weeks early.  Of course she was very excited.

The dots were carefully placed on her ears to mark exactly where we wanted the beautiful new pieces of jewelry to be placed.

We made sure they were even.

And BAM, the first one!  I was trying to prepare her and let it know that it would hurt a little but I don't think she was really listening.  She was probably just repeating in her head "I am really getting my ears pierced, I am really getting it done!"

Now comes the sad, pouty face because "that really hurt!".

We gave her a second to get her courage up and then, BAM, the second one!  I think she was prepared for the second but also a little more scared because she knew how it would feel.

YAY!!  They were all done!  " Let me see how cute they are!" I said.  And this is the sad pathetic look I got.  I think if she could have turned me in for child abuse right then, she would have.

After a couple more tries and not getting a good smile I finally got one.  I told her we could take them out if she didn't like them but she just shook her head at me.

For the rest of the day we caught Morgan catching glances at herself in any and every reflective surface.  I don't know why it is but something as simple as little earrings had made me think how grown up my little girl is.

I love you Morgan!

Feeling Crafty!

So for the last couple weeks I have been feeling the craft bug.  I look around my house and seeing all of the things I want to change and improve.  It all started when a good friend of fine suggest a craft day where we made some hair ribbons for our girls.

They all turned out really cute and we had a ton of fun.  Although we aren't even close to finished.  We were a little too excited when we bought our supplies and have enough ribbon and buttons to make probably 20 more!

Then I had all of the cute bows and I didn't want to just shove them into the hair box, I wanted to display them.  So I went to DI and bought a frame for $1.00 and dug through my buckets of paint and this is what I came up with.

I think it turned out way cute!  (Sorry about the toilet pic, but hey we all got one!)

So then I decided that the top of my entertainment center was too blah and needed something.  So I went to Tai Pan Trading and got a pretty glass bowl/vase thingy, a ceramic bird and a wooden "laugh" word.  I really wanted to put balls in the bowl/vase but I wasn't willing to spend $2-$5 EACH, and I thought, I can make those.  So I went to the dollar store and bought some plastic wiffle balls (5 for $1) and twine and I made my own.  I thought they turned out pretty cute!

My next craft project is taking some talking into but I am really excited to start.  I am a huge blog stalker and love to see what other people come up with.  Well I ran across this idea The Little Green Bean.

This wall is PAINTED!!!  It isn't actual brick and I think it looks soooo cute.  I really want to do this in our family room but I haven't quite convinced hubby of it yet.  Once I finally tackle this project I will definitely post pictures.

So if anyone else out there in blogland is feeling the the craft itch let me know, and I will join you for some creative fun!
