First 5k

Man, I am really behind on my blogging!   I am going to try really hard to get all caught up!

The beginning of August I ran my first 5K.  I was so nervous but really kind of excited too.  I had been working on the 9 week Couch to 5K program and was on about week 7.  I ran with my sister Tracy and brother-in-law Tyler.  They have both been running for several years.  My goal was not not be last, and be under 45 minutes.

Here is my sister and I before the race started

At the starting line

Tyler finishing (he is a stud!)

Tracy finishing (She is also a stud, this was her fastest time!)

and me, I FINISHED!  I wasn't last and I beat my goal by 7 minutes!!

During the race I was asking myself what had I gotten myself into, but when I was finished I was so proud of myself for what I had accomplished.

Next race, a 10K
   AACCCKKKKKKK!

And of course had (cup)cakes and ice cream

I think it was a pretty good party!

Playing at the Lake

We have recently purchased a new toy and honestly we can't get enough of it.  We weren't really planning on buying a boat but one of Paul's coworkers overheard him talking about how he had always wanted one and offered to sell him one cheap.  It did need a little bit of work but a good friend of ours came over almost every night for a week and got it running great!  Since then we have taken it out several times.

We don't have lots of toys yet, but of course our first toy had to be a tube.  Most of the kids think it is great.  Here is Cam giving the thumbs up for GO FASTER!

I think Morgan's face tells how she is feeling about the ride!

Allie was pretty nervous at first but had a good time.

Liza and I originally tried to go together but there wasn't enough air in the tube and it started to pull us under.  She did not like that at all and we had to do quite a bit of persuading to get her to try again.  But she had fun.  Here she is going with Morgan.

A couple weeks later we got a knee board.  Cam was very excited to try it out and actually got up on his 3rd try!  Way to go Cam!

Of course the lake is more fun when lots of people come and enjoy in the fun.  Here is my sister Carla

Liza's favorite part is the beach.  She loves to play in the sand

And search for treasures!

My niece Isabella likes to come too.  She told Grandma that she wanted a boat too

Out for a ride

Even though it wasn't a planned purchased I am totally hooked and in fact ready to go to the lake right now.  Anyone want to join us?!

Love Notes

I have to say I have the sweetest kids!  A couple weeks ago I came downstairs to go on my computer and I found a sweet note from my daughter Morgan and it totally made me smile.  Well Allie couldn't be out done and when I sat in front of my computer this morning she had to leave a note too.

So here is my monitor (yeah, I have a messy desk)

Here is a close up of the 2 notes.  Allie's note made me smile and giggle.  I love a 7 year old's spelling!!

Snails

For the most part my girls are not afraid of bugs.  I am so glad that I did not pass on my fear of bugs to them.  One Saturday morning while I was working in the garden my girls came to get me and excitedly asked me to come see what they were doing.
And this is what I found

They had found about 8 snails and were playing with them in the back yard.  I wouldn't be caught dead touching any of those gross slimy things and even got the willies getting really close to take pictures.  But my sweet, cute little girls were having a ball.
